Some parents have or will receive a letter regarding our Elementary attendance policy. We send a letter when your child has reached 5 absences for the year to serve as a reminder of our policy. Once your child has reached 10 absences, we will send another letter informing you that you are then required to have a doctor’s note or court order for any future absences, otherwise they will be marked as unexcused.

If you have any questions regarding our attendance policy please reach out to the Elementary office at 217-368-2551.

Good afternoon,

Over the past few weeks, the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) has reported a significant increase in ejections and unsportsmanlike conduct incidents across the state—more than 20 additional ejections compared to this time last year.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind our wonderful fans and community members of the high expectations we have for sportsmanship at all GNW events, both home and away. We truly appreciate the passion, pride, and energy you bring to our games, and we encourage you to keep that excitement and positivity going.

At the same time, it is important to remember that at no point—before, during, or after a contest—should anyone stand, yell, point, or use inappropriate or abusive language toward players, referees, coaches, or other fans. We want to model respectful behavior for our student-athletes and future Tigers by cheering for our teams and players, not against opposing teams or fans.

The IESA has asked schools to remind all participants and spectators of their ejection policies:

Players

Any player ejected from a game will be ineligible for the next two games

The player may sit on the bench for the remainder of the current game but may not dress

Completion of the NFHS Sportsmanship Course is required, with proof submitted to the school

Coaches

Any head or assistant coach ejected during the state series will be ineligible to coach for the next two games

The coach may not travel with the team or be on site

Completion of the NFHS Sportsmanship Course, proof of completion, and a $100 penalty are required

Fans

Any fan who is ejected must complete the NFHS Sportsmanship Course and provide proof of completion to their school administration

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work together to create a positive, respectful environment for everyone involved.

Go Tigers!
