It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the passing of Scott Winters, a beloved member of our Tiger family.
Scott was so much more than a familiar face in our community. As the Greenfield Fire Chief, a longtime Tiger Backers officer and supporter, and one of the biggest Tiger fans you could ever meet, Scott dedicated so much of his life to serving others and supporting our students. Whether it was on the sidelines, in the stands, or anywhere our Tigers were competing, Scott was always there, cheering them on and showing his Tiger pride.
But above all else, Scott was a devoted husband to Amber, our high school special education teacher, and a loving father to Colton, Mason and Braleigh. His love for his family and his community was evident in everything he did.
There are simply no words that can adequately express the heartbreak our school district and community are feeling right now.
When one of our Tigers is hurting, we are all hurting.
That is what makes our small community so special. We celebrate together, we support one another, and during the most difficult times, we come together as one family.
We ask our entire Tiger family, our neighboring communities, and everyone whose life has been touched by Scott and his family to please keep Amber, Colton, Mason, Braleigh, the entire Winters and Goode families, their friends, and our Tiger community in your thoughts and prayers.
To Amber, Colton, Mason, Braleigh, and the Winters and Goode families: Please know that you are not alone. Your Tiger family loves you, is praying for you, and will be here to support you in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
Scott gave so much to our schools and community. Now it is our turn to surround his family with that same love and support.
Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger. And when one Tiger hurts, we all stand together.

Our Jr. High Student Council put together a fun Apple Bar to show our teachers just how much they are appreciated! We are so thankful for everything our teachers do each and every day!

Reminder - Mental Health Screener will be administered to grades 3-5 on Tuesday, November 3 and to grades 6-12 on Thursday, November 5. If you do not want your student to participate, please return the opt out form to the respective office no later than the morning of the screening. You can find the opt out form on the website under the counselor corner.

Mrs. Albrecht's 1st grade class did an experiment with baking soda, vinegar, and balloons today! We were able to capture some of the students' live reactions! Great work!

Thanks to their generous sponsorship of this week’s Feed-the-Team Thursday, our GNW Tiger football players enjoyed a delicious meal of fried pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans!

Twin with a Twist Day for Halloween Spirit Week 🎃👻
Students were asked to dress like a friend but with a fun twist, like opposite colors or something different.

Pre-K candy grams were delivered today. The rest of the candy grams will be delivered tomorrow.
There is no Pre-K tomorrow, October 30th.
Reminder - Tomorrow, October 30th is an 11:15 dismissal for the Elementary and 11:25 for the High School.

If your child’s transportation plans change for the day, please be sure to send a note with them to school letting us know how they will be getting home. 📝
We know things come up, and we’re always happy to help! However, dismissal time can get pretty busy, and last-minute phone calls make it difficult to ensure the message reaches every student before they leave for the day.
Sending a note in the morning helps us make sure everyone gets where they need to go safely and smoothly! ❤️

GHS honored the Students of the Quarter for First Quarter with a breakfast. Students were nominated by teachers for this honor. Those students are: Mason Winters, Kylin Terpening, Jaylynn Pitchford, Ella Lero, Blakely Hays, Catelyn Nord, Lainey Frank, Hailey Sullivan, Braxtin Springman, Savannah Cole, RJ Shanks, Jaime Dowland, Karissa Ruyle, Addison Hilderbrand, Kiley Davis and Tinley Albrecht. Thank you to these students for their leadership in and out of the classroom.
🐯Our Traveling Tiger is on the move! Congratulations to Miss Lehr’s second grade class that won the Traveling Tiger for showing outstanding teamwork! We are so proud of our Tigers for working together, supporting one another, and showing what it means to be a team! 👏

October 18–24 is Principal Appreciation Week in Illinois, with Friday, October 23, officially recognized as Principal Appreciation Day!
At Greenfield CUSD #10, we are fortunate to have two outstanding leaders who work tirelessly to make our schools better places for our students, staff, and families.
Please join us in recognizing Mrs. Julie Williams, Greenfield Elementary Principal, and Mrs. Beth Bettis, Greenfield High School Principal!
Being a principal is not an easy job. It requires countless hours, difficult decisions, patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to doing what is best for students. Both of these ladies go above and beyond each day to support our students, staff, and school community. Their leadership, dedication, and willingness to do whatever is needed do not go unnoticed, and we are extremely grateful for everything they do.
This year's recognition is especially meaningful as it will be Mrs. Bettis's final Principal Appreciation Day before her retirement in January. Mrs. Bettis has dedicated more than 30 years of her life to education, including serving as Greenfield High School Principal since 2010. Her years of service, leadership, and commitment to our students and district have made a lasting impact on generations of Greenfield Tigers. We are incredibly thankful for everything she has given to our schools and community throughout her career.
To Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Bettis, thank you for your leadership, your dedication, and most importantly, for caring so much about our students and staff. We appreciate you both more than you know!

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with Greenfield Mayor Brock Meyer and our newly appointed Police Chief, Chief Jeff Moore, to discuss ways we can continue working together to provide a safe environment for our students, staff, families, and community.
One of the topics we discussed was traffic safety, especially around our schools. As part of his commitment to our community, Chief Moore plans to have an increased presence throughout Greenfield, including around and inside our schools. His goal is to build positive relationships with our students and families while helping ensure everyone gets to and from school safely.
We would like to remind our students, parents, and community members of a few important safety practices:
- Always wear your seatbelt.
- Put your phones away and use hands-free devices when driving.
- Be mindful of school zones, crosswalks, and pedestrians.
- Slow down, pay attention, and use extra caution during school arrival and dismissal times.
- Remember that safe driving is everyone's responsibility.
Chief Moore emphasized that his goal is to promote safety through education, communication, and positive interactions rather than enforcement. However, enforcement remains an option when necessary to keep everyone safe.
I appreciate Mayor Meyer and Chief Moore taking the time to meet with me and their willingness to work alongside our district. Having a strong relationship between our schools, city leadership, and local law enforcement is important, and I look forward to continuing that partnership.
At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: for our students, staff, families, and community members to make it home safely each and every day.
